I've got this friend.... she's got no filter. A direct line from her skull to her mouth. If she thinks it she says it and that's all there is to it. My mind swells with jealousy.
It's not that easy for you and I. One can struggle for a lifetime fighting the inability to express... to vocalize... to just say it and get it over with. Sometimes it's the critics and detractors, but sometimes it's the like-minded that tie your tongue. Embarrassment, insecurity, overwhelming grief and boundless disbelief.. the story of my life.. words unsaid and unheard but nonetheless alive and battling their oppression. I've not heard you and you've heard naught but the sweet deluge of my silence. Why don't we cut the shit and just say it? More after the jump...
Labels: Born Ruffians, Say It
Even though the recording for this album was just completed, and it is as of yet unnamed, I couldn't wait any longer. The Born Ruffians burst onto the scene with Red, Yellow & Blue and have been grabbing attention ever since. Two of these three chill guys from Toronto made a stop by my dorm after an amazing show in rural Ohio and confirmed what we already knew: they're just as awesome in person as in the studio. I'm waiting with tiptoe anticipation for 2010 to roll around so I can hear exactly what new sounds these Ruffians have been toying with. I don't think there is a band I'm looking forward to more. Here are a few of their lesser known tracks.
Plinky Plonky
Milkman/To Cure a Weakling Child (Cover)
Tic Toc
Now seems like as good a time as ever to post some indie for the masses. ;)
Kurt Vonnegut - Born Ruffians.
Yeah yeah... this track is kinda old but its one of those that I can never seem to play out. Born Ruffians put on a great show at the Horn Gallery in Gambier back in March and since then I've been dying to hear something new. According to their blog the boys are working on new tracks as I type. As soon as they're released you'll be able to hear them here.
Medicine - Starfucker
Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare - Matt & Kim
Matt & Kim probably tore it up at Pitchfork this weekend. I have no idea since I couldn't go even though I REALLY REALLY wanted to. If any of you went leave me a comment... I'd like to know how it all went down. I also missed Cudi this weekend in Cleveland and Royal Oak. Expect a post on some new Cudi tracks soon.
